This isn't a toy, so I'm not sure why Amazon has "toy" all over the reviews.
Anyhow, this is a great conversation piece! Highly recommended for a unique timepiece!

Summary: "Conversation piece"

It's definitely a conversation piece, but it certainly needs to have its own electrical connection. Although it operates on batteries, it can also work with house current, and that is the most efficient and economical means.

Summary: "Ball clock that is a bit noisy but fun!"

I had one of these when I was a kid and since I'm trying to make myself feel younger lately I figured I'd get one to bring me back. It's very entertaining watching the balls get lifted every minute and go through the canals and participate in the balancing act that is this clock! But beware, it gets stuck every once in a while and it's rather noisy (which it seems others in the house are not appreciative of, but doesn't bother me) -- like clanking marbles every minute.. Fun Toy!

Summary: "Back in time.........."

This is my second clock. The first one from back in the late 70's was one I had to put together myself rubbing white crayon into the numbers grooves and snapping the track together. I lost it when I had help moving...hmmm. I loved it so much I just had to get another one. It is noisy, no doubt about it but worth every penny. A real conversation piece.

Summary: "Uniqie Clock, great conversation piece."

First off, this thing is a lot of fun to watch. There's something mesmerizing about it. I don't know how durable it is, or needs to be. I mean, it just sits on a table and dos its thing. Just make sure it doesn't get bumped or dropped because resetting all of the balls will take some time.
I wasn't too happy about having to buy a separate AC adapter for it. I didn't want to put batteries in it as I think they're a waste of money. Also, it's a little noisy. You're not going to want this in your bedroom or room where you watch tv. I suppose at night you can cover it with a towel or blanket or something if you really wanted to.
One final thing, you need to get used to telling the time on this thing. It's not the type of clock you can glance at from across the room in a quick glance. I love mine though and do not at all regret buying it.
